The importance of carving adjacent to FLW photo is to show that he is watching the evolution and that even when his time has passed, he still remains part of the evolution until the world of architecture finally breaks of his grip. The two images below show the opening page and the interaction FLW profile has with the book even after you leave its page.
This is what I am starting to work towards for the evolution of the city. I am moving away from the symmetry and balance or FLW's window, but at the sam time keeping the geometric aspect of the window. In FLW's book, “The Disappearing City,” he wrote of the American metropolis: “A parasite of the spirit is here, a whirling dervish in a whirling vortex.” He thought that cities were dirty and congested, but that is where the world has moved and is continuing to evolve towards a metropolis. The population is continuing to grow and therefore we must build up, we no longer have a choice.
