These were attempts at concept three...I still don't really understand this part, but this exaggerates the difference between where light would flood in and where it would be dark. It makes the "skylights" feel less geometric and more free flowing.
it might help to think of the fabric as sheets (like say how we can think of glass as being part of a "curtain wall")... also, i'll put some examples on my blog to help out with the 3rd variant as well...
